About our Review System

Everyone likes to know just how good a game is before they go out and spend their hard earned money on it, and fighting games are no exception. Some can be very good while others can be painfully bad. So, we here at Blood-Sports.net are taking the time to provide you with some quality reviews of the latest fighting games to give you a good idea on what the games are like. That's right...we don't rush out there and publish substandard reviews in an attempt to be the first site out there to do so. We take the time needed to see everything the game has to offer before drawing conclusions. No BS, just the facts fighting gamers want to know.

While reading the reviews you'll notice that the games have been broken down into four main categories and given a score out of 10 for each, before providing an overall score out of 10. For those of you interested, here's a quick run down of what everything means:

  • Graphics: It's fairly important for the graphics of a game to be good, and if the graphics are poor, this subtracts from the quality of the overall gaming experience.
  • Sound: Sound plays an important role in fighting games...you need to hear the pain you are dishing out! It's got to be there, and it's got to be good.
  • Gameplay: By far the most important aspect of any game is it's gameplay. Where fighting games are concerned, this includes character balance, the game mechanics, the fighting engine, the control system and how all these meld together. If the gameplay is off, the game is off.
  • Lastability: It's also pretty important to know how long a game will last you when you buy it. It could have the best graphics, sound and gameplay in the world but if there is no incentive to keep playing it, you won't.
  • Overall: So how well do all the above elements work when put together in the game? This is a score given to the game that sums up how well the game has been presented and plays. It is NOT an average of the other four scores.
So now you're probably wondering what the scores mean. Well, here's your explanation:
  • 0-2: The game is terrible, unplayable and probably isn't even finished. Not worth the disc it's published on.
  • 3-4: The game is playable at least, but every aspect is extremely bad so avoid it like the plague.
  • 5-6: The game is mediocre and would really only provide entertainment for die-hard fans. Unfortunately the con's outweigh the pro's, and other games do what it is attempting to do better.
  • 7: An average game. Good to keep on your shelf to keep coming back to. Nothing particularly bad about the game, but nothing all that jawdropping either.
  • 8: A great game and certainly worthy of a purchase. Every aspect of the game is above average and you'll no doubt have a lot of fun playing it.
  • 9: A technically brilliant game, with everything nailed down to a fine art. Introduces new concepts and builds on old ones perfectly.
  • 10: A perfect game. Every aspect of the game...absolutely everything...is flawless.
