Guilty Gear heading to PS2 and Wii
Posted by White_Pointer at 09:40:32 CST
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, the latest incarnation of the cult 2D fighting series first appeared in Japanese arcades early last year, with a PS2 port arriving in May exclusively in Japan. Now it's finally coming out outside of Japan courtesy of new publisher Aksys Games and will be hitting the PS2 and Wii 3rd quarter this year.
While the PS2 version will be by and large identical to the one that was released in Japan, the Wii version will sport new features unique to the system. In addition to having support for the Gamecube and Classic controllers, the creators are going a step further and implementing support for the WiiMote as well, meaning punches, kicks, throws and special attacks can be performed using the motion sensor.
We'll have more information on this as it becomes available.

Please note if you click on one of the images the full size version works and have links to the previous and next image. Anyway should have that fixed sometime this week.
You should also expect to see info and content on Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Online (PS3), Soul Calibur 4 (X360, PS3), Tekken 6, and more.

Soul Calibur IV revealed
Posted by White_Pointer at 22:44:29 CST
Well, I guess we kind of all knew it was coming but what everybody hoped for has now been confirmed. Namco Bandai have officially announced Soul Calibur IV with a sneak peak teaser trailer you can watch here.
We don't know much yet, except that it will be on Xbox 360 and PS3, and that we won't be seeing it until some time in 2008. From the teaser we can also confirm Ivy, Mitsurugi and Nightmare all make a return. The teaser also hints that this may be the last game in the series "as the story draws to its inevitable conclusion".
Apparently more information is set to be revealed in next month's Electronic Gaming Monthly, so be on the lookout for that when it hits store shelves.
Thanks to a number of people for pointing us to this news, including David King and forum member Naruto. Why not join the discussion on our forums?

KOF to be a live action movie
Posted by White_Pointer at 12:49:55 CST
Well it appears as though the rumours have been true.
A little late with this news since it happened during our server issues but better a bit late than never. A movie based on SNK's King of Fighters series has been confirmed, and will be directed by Hong Kong action director Gordon Chan ("The Medallion," "Fist of Legend"). Chris Chow ("Fearless") will write the screenplay.
Not much detail has been revealed yet but we do know that the movie will be in English and not Japanese even though it's being financed by Japanese production and rights management group Micott & Basara.
The movie is set to begin shooting early next year. See variety for more details.
Thanks goes to regular news contributer David King for the story!

Wii MK: Armageddon PAL release date
Posted by White_Pointer at 00:27:12 CST
So Mortal Kombat: Armageddon hit the Wii on the 15th of May in the US (which happened while the server problems were going on hence why there was no report on it here), but European and Australian gamers have probably noticed that there is no sign of it yet in their home countries. That's because that yet again, PAL gamers need to wait longer.
But, the good news for PAL Wii owners is that you don't need to wait too much longer. We've done some digging for you and according to EB Games and Game (formally Games Wizards), the two biggest game retailers in Australia, the Wii version of MK: Armageddon should be hitting shelves on the 14th of June.
Strangely Nintendo themselves are remaining tight-lipped about the game's PAL release as it's not even listed on their website yet.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused everyone.
