NamcoTekken 6 Arcade using PS3 Tech?
Posted by White_Pointer at 11:42:08 CST
Even though Namco themselves are remaining pretty tight-lipped about their upcoming title Tekken 6, with the exception of information last month, little tidbits of info are starting to crop up. Mainichi Daily News is reporting that the arcade version of the 3D fighter will be using arcade hardware based on Playstation 3 technology.

If you've been a stalwart Namco supporter for a while this probably won't come as any great surprise to you as previous Namco arcade hardware has been based off Sony tech as well (the Namco System 246 was based on PlayStation 2). Unlike their previous hardware though, Namco still isn't sure whether they are going to sell their PS3-driven tech to 3rd parties.

Still no information regarding a possible release date however, for either the arcade or the PS3, but we'll keep you posted when the news breaks!

TecmoDOA movie not coming until June
Posted by White_Pointer at 06:57:49 CST
Even though the Dead or Alive movie has been out in several countries including Australia and The Philippines for some time now (some as early as September last year), for some reason the movie is being delayed again and again in the US. Originally delayed until December last year, it's US release has been put on the shelf yet again and now we won't be expecting it until at least June 22nd, according to The Weistein Company's website.

The movie's quality is probably debateable, so the constant delays to the US audience probably isn't going to hurt anyone...but really, why not just release it and be done with it? Is the movie really THAT bad?

MicrosoftYie Ar Kung Fu coming to 360
Posted by White_Pointer at 12:21:17 CST
The classic 1985 fighter is coming to the 360! Konami's Yie Ar Kung Fu was originally announced for the Xbox 360's Live Arcade service at last year's Tokyo Game Show but at the time only Japanese release information was given. Now Microsoft and Konami have announced the game will be coming to US consoles as well.

Yie Ar Kung Fu was one of the better mid-eighties fighting games so it will be very interesting to see how the game ports across. If you need a refresher on the game itself, check our history of fighters section.

BloodsportsNew section, New Screenshots….
Posted by godboko71 at 03:21:16 CST
Well I can’t say there was much in the way of real news in the fighting world today but I can say that we do have a new section on the site, called “Developer Diaries”. “Developer Diaries” are much like your childhood diary or Journal, or for anyone in any type of development no matter what type you keep journals about the changes you make, anyway game developers are no different and sometimes we are lucky enough for them to publish them.

Also wanted to let everyone know we added several screenshots under many different games in the image section. Virtua Fighter 5 was the latest updated section.

MidwayMK: Armageddon for Wii slips?
Posted by White_Pointer at 09:24:15 CST
For the first time in a long time, it seems Midway will not be shipping their next MK title on the previously announced date.

The Wii version of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon was originally announced to be coming in April 2007. However a list of upcoming Wii titles recently announced by Nintendo suggests otherwise, as they have the title listed down to be hitting shelves on the 15th of May (in the US, no word on a PAL release yet).

Midway themselves have not made any official announcement as of yet.

Update: We have confirmation from Golin/Harris (Nintendo’s PR Firm) that Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will not be released in the US until May 15, no comment as of yet from Midway.

(default)Def Jam: Icon Review Roundup
Posted by godboko71 at 10:05:48 CST
As posted yesterday Def Jam: Icon was released on the X360 and the PS3, so I thought it might be a good idea to show what the "pro" gamers thought about the game.

1UP: "When it comes to concept, Def Jam games have always been shaky -- rappers fighting rappers for almost no reason at all in the original game, followed by a sequel where rappers fought rappers for control of New York City! Yawn. But the latest in the series, Def Jam: Icon, finally serves up a believable premise with way more crunk than clunk." X360 Overall: 6.5 out of 10

GameTrailers: "Def Jam: Icon has a strong aesthetic and is a slick production overall, but the interesting music-based environment concept can’t make up for basic problems and the general sloppiness of the fighting." PS3 Overall: 6.3 out of 10

IGN: "While this is a weak showing, Def Jam: Icon definitely shows where the series is headed. The incredibly rendered artists and destructible environments, an uncensored soundtrack and DJ controls are a huge bonus for the musically infused franchise." X360 Overall: 7 out of 10

More reviews as the come will update this post for the next few days.

BloodsportsIntroducing your new webmaster
Posted by White_Pointer at 10:20:08 CST
Well, I guess this is officially my last post as webmaster.

May I introduce godboko71, also known as Rob. He has graciously offered to take control of the site as well as all of the associated costs and host the site on a new server to keep Blood-Sports.net alive and kicking. As you can see everything is working now after our server move and the site is ready to continue kicking along to provide the best fighting game resource on the internet.

I'm not dying however...I may be stepping down as webmaster after 5 long years, but I am going to remain an administrator here. This site is still my baby, I wrote all of the code that drives it and I've built it into what it is today. I'll still be posting in the forums (maybe even more regularly than I have been recently) and I'll still be here to make the occasional site update and news post.

Please make Rob feel welcome, I trust him to do a bang up job of keeping Blood-Sports.net the site it always has been.

BloodsportsStill working out the kinks
Posted by White_Pointer at 23:56:47 CST
Ah, the joys of a server move.

As you can see, the site is mostly in working order after our server move. There's only one major thing that still needs work and that's the image galleries...everything else should be in working order.

We are working hard and we'll let you know when the galleries are back up.

BloodsportsBlood-Sports.net lives!
Posted by White_Pointer at 01:34:53 CST
That's right folks, you heard right.

Blood-Sports.net is staying online! Since the site's closure was announced, we've been inundated with offers from people wishing to help out to keep the site alive. One of the generous offers we received was to take the site over and move the site to a new server, and we've accepted this.

However, this does mean I am still stepping down as Webmaster and admin of this site. As of next week, Blood-Sports.net will have a new webmaster, who I will be introducing to everyone once the server move is complete. I'll still be around to post the occasional news story and I'll still be on the forums too.

The site may experience some short downtime during the server move but don't worry if it does, because we'll be back.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this site and continue to give us your support!

MidwayMKII hitting PS Store next month
Posted by White_Pointer at 02:07:58 CST
It was last month that Sony and Midway announced that they were bringing several arcade classics to the PS3's download service. Now we know that the first of those will be Mortal Kombat II, and it's coming to the service in March, complete with online play. Nice.

The game will cost US$4.99 to download.
