First, your life must be at 50% or less. Second, you must be dizzy, _or_ be stuck in a grab or repeated attack, such as Choi's Zujou Sashi (his C-button throw), or Chang's Dai Hakai Nage. Thirdly, you must have an undefeated teammate standing on-screen and nearby. Finally, that teammate must have a neutral or friendly relationship towards you. Performing special moves (whether or not they hit). 2. Damaging your opponent with anything aside from a DM/SDM. 3. Getting damaged by your opponent. When it's full, it then empties, but you gain 1 green POW point. You can hold: 1. Three points when playing with your first character. 2. Four points when using your second character. 3. Five points when you're controlling your last team member. Accumulated POW points can be expended to: 1. Use the 'Activate Power Gauge' move (press A + B + C). 2. Use a DM (Desperation Move). When you activate your Power Gauge, it turns into a timer bar that slowly empties. While the timer bar is on-screen: 1. You can use the GC Emergency Evade or GC Strike Attack. They can be used repeatedly without draining any power from the timer bar or Power Gauge. 2. You can perform a SDM (Super Desperation Move). This is done with the same command as a DM and costs an additional POW point (just like when using a DM), but since your Power Gauge has been activated, you'll perform the SDM version instead. 3. Your body will flash, and any attack you make does 25% more damage. You can lose Power Gauge energy, POW points, or your activated Power Gauge under these conditions: 1. Activating your Power Gauge or performing a DM or SDM all cost one point. 2. Between rounds, POW points are carried over, but Power Gauge energy that has been accumulated is not (the gauge empties. Even if it is almost full, you still won't gain a point). 3. If your Power Gauge has been activated, it returns to normal between rounds. 4. If you perform an SDM, your Power Gauge returns to normal whether or not the move hit or not. 5. If you wait too long after activating your Power Gauge, then the timer bar empties and the Power Gauge goes back to normal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE POWER GAUGE IN EXTRA MODE ------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can fill up your Power Gauge by: 1. Charging up your Power Gauge (hold down A + B + C). 2. Getting damaged by your opponent. The Power Gauge shrinks every time you lose, making it easier to fill it up. It shrinks to: 1. 75% of it's normal size when playing with your second character. 2. 50% of it's normal size when using your final character. When your Power Gauge is filled, it says 'MAXIMUM' and slowly begins to empty. While the Power Gauge is emptying: 1. You can use the GC Emergency Evade or GC Strike Attack. Using either one of them will completely empty the Power Gauge. 2. You can perform a DM (Desperation Move). 3. Your body will flash, and any attack you make does 50% more damage. If you take enough damage (if your life is at 20% or less), your Life Gauge begins flashing red. When this happens: 1. You can perform DMs repeatedly. 2. You can use the GC Emergency Evade or GC Strike Attack. They can be used repeatedly without draining any power from the Power Gauge. 3. If your Power Gauge was maxed out and is now emptying, then you can use SDMs instead of DMs. Doing so will not affect your life, but it will empty your Power Bar completely. Note that if your life is raised beyond 20% (this may happen if you win the round, since you gain back some life, or if you're using Heidern's restorative "Bringer" moes), then your Life Gauge stops flashing and you lose all benefits of having a low Life Gauge. You can lose Power Gauge energy under these conditions: 1. Performing a DM or SDM when the Power Gauge is full will empty it. 2. Between rounds, all accumulated Power Gauge energy is lost, even if it was almost full. 3. If your Power Gauge had been maxed out and is now emptying, it returns to normal between rounds. 4. If you perform an SDM, your Power Gauge returns to normal whether or not the move hit or not. 5. If you wait too long after maxing out your Power Gauge, then it empties and the Power Gauge goes back to normal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ USING COMMAND ATTACKS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are three rules to keep in mind when using a command attack: - Some command attacks are overhead moves, most can be comboed into, and most be cancelled into a special move. - _But_, if you combo into a command attack, it loses any special properties it had (it won't work as an overhead or knockdown attack, for example). - However, for some command attacks, you _have_ to combo into them first if you want to then cancel them into a special move. The general idea is that, if a command attack has a special feature (overheads or knockdowns), it must be comboed into if you want to cancel from it. Otherwise, you should be able to cancel it into a special move just fine (but like I said earlier, not all command attacks can be cancelled from--see each characters's move list below for more information). Let's use Saishu for an example (and not just because he's one of my favorite characters): - Saishu's Gou Tsui (f + A) is an overhead attack. Normally, he _cannot_ cancel it into a special move (such as a Yami Barai). - However, if he uses a close standing C, then combos that into the Gou Tsui, he can then cancel the Gou Tsuchi into the Yami Barai. This 3-hit combo looks like this: Crouching C, f + A, qcf + P - Saishu's other command attack is the Kubu Tsuchi (f + B). This move doesn't have any special properties. However, it can be comboed from. For instance, Saishu could use the Kubu Tsuchi, then the Oniyaki, like this: When close, f + B, f,d,df + P - If he wanted to he could even combo into the Kubu Tsuchi, like so: Standing C, f + B, f,d,df + P Remember that these rules apply to every command attack. Even in rare cases like Leona's Strike Arch (which is both an overhead and a knockdown attack), if you proceeded it with a standing C, then inputted f + B for the Strike Arch, it would not knock down and a crouching blocking opponent would be able to guard against it. ======================================================================== 2. CHARACTER MOVELISTS ======================================================================== Each character movelist is composed of several parts: at the top is the character's name and the team they're in, followed by a short bio sheet, then their win quote and a short list of moves. After that comes a longer, more detailed list of moves. Both lists are written in this order: normal throws, command attacks, special moves, and (S)DMs. After the detailed moveslist is a chart of cancelable attacks, although some characters may also have a 'notes' section or a flowchart of their special move chains. As for specifics, the number of hits for each move was determined using Chang as my opponent (since he's so big, you have a better chance of discovering what the total number of hits for each move actually is). All translations were done by me, with help from others in certain casesm, so there may be some mistakes, as I don't know much Japanese. To make matters even worse, the move names for the Real Orochi Team were originally written, or at least sounded out, in Russian (just like Goenitz's moves back in '96). While I've been able to find kana so as to properly spell the names, I can't figure out what the move names mean, since I don't have the kanji.
