Proposal for Forum Changes
« on: May 01, 2009, 09:17:37 PM »
So I thought I would get a feel for your feelings towards a forum reorganization. Below is the proposed changes:

Site & Forum (Formally Announcements)

Announcements
News Comments (Moved)
Site Feedback (Moved)

General

General Discussion
Introduction Forum

Entertainment (New Category)

General Entertainment (formally Entertainment Forum)
Music (New Board: Maybe open after activity increases.)
Television & Movies (New Board: Maybe open after activity increases.)

Video Games

General Gaming (formally Non-Fighting Games)
Tips & Tricks (New Board: for tips, guides, and cheats/hacks)
Genre/Console (New Boards: Any given Genre/and or console could be given there own boards as activity increased)

Fighting Games (New Category)

Capcom
Midway
Namco
SNK/NeoGeo
All Others
Retro Fighting

Though SMF supports sub forums I think it can make navigation harder, therefore I personally think it is better to use Categories to organize boards. That said I am open to any feedback from all users.

Any reorganization would be in the hope/have the goals to improve user experience and make the forums as a whole more active.
Thank you.

I think separating the VG and FG sections is a bit moot, and I think that the "General Gaming" covers the 'tips & tricks' as well as the 'genre/console' part. You kinda won't really need to change that part of the forum, presonally its pretty clear the way it is.

The extra extertainment bits are good and it seems the layout will be better off with the other bits and pieces being moved.
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

I don't see the point in splitting any of this stuff, or really changing anything.  I think it's pretty simplistic as is, and VERY user friendly.  Especially for newbies.  You don't wanna scare'em with an over-complicated forum layout.

The only thing I see worth changing is splitting the Entertainment section into Music and T.V.,Movies, etc.

Only one that really makes sense anyway.

Well I made some of the basic changes, will not be making any new forums until there is more activity.
Thank you.

I wanted to take the time to Note that I locked the News Comments board and will leave it read only from this point forward. I will make note of it in the description later.

Why am I doing this? Most if not all comments will be related to posts that will be made in the other fighting game forums no need to cover the same ground over and over again. Also anything non fighting game,, like site or forum news will be posted in the announcement board and comments can be posted there.
Thank you.
