Well I do enjoy some anime. I guess I will post a small list of my favorites but I’d assume that most posting in this thread have already seen them. I’ll just link the pictures to the show name to save loading times in this thread.
Recommended Series1.
Cowboy Bebop - Surprise huh? Yeah this is where I got my username from since I couldn’t come up with a good one at the time. The story is basically about four bounty hunters traveling through space catching criminals to net a profit. This has been my favorite anime now for at least 7 years running. It has excellent action, very interesting and thought out characters, a good story and a great soundtrack. What I love about this show is it touches on every aspect from drama to comedy to horror and everything in between yet it does a fine job at each.
2.
Outlaw Star - How else can I describe this show other than fun? It is about an Outlaw named Gene Starwind (Badass name right there) who happens across the most advanced ship in the universe along with a strange girl who is needed to even get the ship to move. Along the way all the pirates and other shady characters are out to steal his ship and the girl because of the special purpose they were designed for. While this show may not have the deepest characters or the best story every, there is plenty of action and humor to keep you satisfied.
3.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - This one is about a woman named Motoko Kusanagi and her special operations task-force called Public Security Section 9. They cover everything from murder, terrorism, cyber crimes, and even government conspiracy. What I enjoy most about this show is its interesting cast of characters and deep involving plot with plenty of twists.
4.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Don't ask me why I enjoy this one, I just do for some reason. The story involves a paramilitary organization named NERV trying to prevent the destruction of the planet from monstrous beings known as Angels. What is great about this show is that every time you unlock one mystery about what is happening there is always another one that appears.
5.
Bleach - This one involves a teenager named Ichigo Kurosaki who has the ability to see spirits. One day, he ends meeting this shinigami named Rukia. Her job is to help souls move on and defeat evil spirits called Hallows. Because of Ichigo, she is badly injured trying to protect him and is forced to give him some of her powers. Ichigo then must carry out duties as a substitute shinigami while Rukia remains trapped in the living world forced to help him through it all. This one is another show with a good mix of action, comedy, and likable characters.
Recommended Movies1.
Princess Mononoke - This movie involves a war between the humans and the spirits of the forest. Overall, it is an amazing movie even if it is animated. The animation is top-notch and the story and characters are really brought to life.
2.
Cowboy bebop: The Movie - The crew of the Bebop must stop a terrorist from unleashing a deadly virus on an entire planet. How could I not recommend this one? Same deal as the series, no need to explain more.
3.
Ghost in the Shell - Section 9 must stop a mysterious hacker known as the puppet master. Classic film, a little different from the series but I'd still recommend it nonetheless.
4.
Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society - Yet another GiTS movie. No need explaining this one.
What I don't care for1.
Reign the Conqueror - About Alexander the Great or something… who really cares. This show can be described in one word, garbage. It has a boring plot and tons of codpieces, need I go on?
2.
Serial Experiments Lain - This is basically about the life of a strange young girl named Lain. The plot is so confusing and so involved that every episode is almost impossible to follow until you get to the end. By the end of the series, I wished I hadn’t watched the rest of it to begin with.
3.
Wolf's Rain - Basically it is about a bunch of idiots that change into wolves. I found it extremely boring.
4.
Inuyasha - This never-ending story is about a half-demon named Inuyasha and a high school girl named Kagome traveling around collecting these ancient jewel shards before they can end up in the hands of evil demons. Please, if you haven’t seen this yet save yourself the trouble. The overall plot is very dull and it just goes on and on forever. There is also a bunch of sappy love plots between annoying characters that never seem to get settled.
