Ok, first off, on thread revivals.  Howsabout deleting old threads which wouldn't have relevance or be needed anymore.   This way, it'd cut down on unneeded revivals since that's a pet peeve around here.

Secondly, what if newbies wouldn't be able to make thier own topics until they reach a certain number of posts?  This way, the vets around here and myself can see if these guys are gonna be spamming and trolling here.  Some of the new people starting new topics with what half a sentence is what I'm talking about  here.

Thoughts?

Well here is what I think even though my opinion doesn‘t really mean anything...

As for deleting old threads:

Maybe there should be some kind of time limit on posts. Maybe after a certain time of inactivity they should be moved to some sort of archive forum. I know a lof of other boards I've seen do this so people can look at some of those threads for reference if need be. I am just not too keen on deleting some of the older posts that have some history here.

As for the new members starting new threads:

I think that is a great idea. I know gamefaqs has a limit like that. Maybe you should also limit the number of posts newer members can make per day. Maybe allowing new accounts to make only 5 replies per day for the first week or two. That would sure cut down on new people spamming topics with one word replies.

1) Pruning has always been a good idea in my book.

2) Newbies having a topic ban and a post limit? Thats a poor idea. Think any worthwhile members, or good members will have that kind of patience? Heh, I wouldn't. Yes, we get a lot of trolls. But I think trolls can be identified with a simple ip check, or a few posts. Make stricter rules, don't limit their posting though.

And does this version of Invision have the ability to progress user groups through post count?

Not quite what I meant on 2 Vinsfeld.  They wouldn't be able to start topics until they reach a certain level is what I meant.  Good idea also Vicious about having a limit during that time period would be a good idea as well.

About Deleting Old Topics:
I see your point, and I'm guessing you mean old topics that are similar to something recently put up.  There are places that say to put up a new thread instead of bringing up old stuff.  And there are places that tell you to use a search and look up someone who's already said what you're about to say.  Neither is right nor wrong.  So what's a guy to do?  Well, you're a man.  If someone has said words in the past that's worth keeping.  Keep it.  If you think you can word it better, than word it better.

A perfect example:  Those 1-2 year old SFIII 3S Beginner Threads...

About New Members:
An internet forum is a site with topics, posted replies, and shared ideas.  You start taking those things away and you don't have a forum anymore.  I don't see why a New Member should be held back anymore than I should.  They've got ideas just as much as the next person.  Let them put it out there.  You will still get members who do things like spam, and be stupid.  But that's normal.  It's the internet, you've got all sorts of people here.  The idiots will be dealt with case by case.

Troll=Person who posts stuff to get a negative response.
Example: <start post> tttttttttttttttttttttttt yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!1111<end post>
It could also include someone flaming for no reason, insulting the admins, etc.

 L.O.L.

I thought they were lil' trolls or something. The big ones are green and ugly with warts and hide under a bridge.
So if you see a troll on these boards, say:
"Go back to your bridge!"
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.
